This past weekend, the Topeka Model Railroaders had the pleasure of bringing our modular layout to the Colmery-O'Neil VA Medical Center for a two-day Open House event.
We would like to extend a sincere thank you to everyone who stopped by to visit, watch trains run, ask questions, and spend time with us throughout the weekend. It was wonderful seeing familiar faces and meeting new people who share an interest in model railroading.
A special thank you goes out to the Topeka VA for inviting us and allowing us to be a part of the event. We greatly appreciate the opportunity to share our hobby with the veterans, staff, and visitors who attended.
Like many model railroad events, we experienced a few unexpected hiccups with the layout during the first day. Thankfully, our members were able to diagnose the issue, (a misaligned plug) and by the second day everything was operating smoothly. Day 2 saw reliable, trouble-free operation and plenty of trains running across the layout.
We would also like to give a special thank you to everyone who stayed after the event to help tear down the layout and load everything up. Events like these take a great deal of work behind the scenes, and your assistance made the process much easier and faster.
